Sara wakes up. She looks out the window. The sky is grey. It is not sunny today.

Sara hears a sound. Tap, tap, tap. She says, "What is this?"

"It is rain!" she says. Sara watches the rain fall. It falls on the garden. It falls on the apple tree. It falls on the grass.

Sara wants to play outside. But it is raining. She feels a little sad.

Mom comes into the room. "Good morning, Sara," she says. "It is raining today."

"I want to play in the garden," Sara says. "But it is raining."

Mom smiles. "We can play inside today," she says.

Sara looks at the window again. She sees something new. It is small. It moves fast on the glass. She says, "What is this?"

"It is a raindrop!" she says. She watches it move down, down, down.

Sara has an idea. "Can we make a picture of the rain?" she asks.

"Yes!" Mom says. Sara gets her crayons. She draws grey clouds. She draws blue raindrops. She draws the apple tree.

Sara is happy now. She is not sad. Drawing is fun too.

Dad comes into the room. "What do you have, Sara?" he asks.

"I have a picture of the rain," Sara says. She shows him the clouds. She shows him the raindrops.

"Beautiful!" Dad says. "Listen. Do you hear that?"

Sara listens. Tap, tap, tap. Then, slowly, the sound stops.

Sara looks out the window. The rain stops. The sky is a little bit blue.

"Look!" Sara says. "What is this?" A bright circle of colors is in the sky.

"It is a rainbow!" Mom says. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue. Sara counts the colors.

Sara smiles. Rainy days can be good days too. Tomorrow she wants to play in the garden again. Maybe the sun will shine.

Goodnight, Sara. Sweet dreams. See you next time!
